Just a Girl
She is just a girl
She is 17
She wishes people understood her issues
She enjoys playing music and hanging out with her friends
She has a scar just between her eyebrows
Her feet hurt from working
She lets him have shotgun every time
She lets him watch his shows when he wants to
She lets him take up as much room on the couch
She does all this and doesn't mind
She is thankful it isn't worse
He has her get him some water
He has her bring him a pillow
She clears his plate from the table
She rubs his feet when they are aching
She is as kind as she can be to him
She walks with him, head held high, despite the stares
No one asks or even speaks, just stares in silence
She asks why this would happen
Why something so horrible could happen to someone so wonderful
She's a sister
He's a brother
He doesn't know why this would happen to him
He hates the stares he gets in public
He wonders why the only sound as he passes people in the store is the sound of his walker
He is patient and strong
He tries to walk when he just wants to lie down
He tries to carry his own drink, but it's too hard
He uses a pillow to reduce the pain of his resting leg
Walking makes him long for a sip of water
He tries to stay awake for his shows but the pain medicine knocks him out
He sits in the front seat to help get in and out of the car easier
His leg is in pain from all of the surgeries to remove the tumors
His scar stretches from his hip to his knee
He loves music and wishes he could run around with his friends
He wishes people understood his issues
He is 11
He is just a boy.
