Just a girl technically

In my mother’s eyes I’m ungrateful

To my friends I seem enigmatic

Many girls would think I’m full of myself but many of them are pathetic.

I am, we are, made of a variety of things how could you narrow it down to one

Just when you think you’ve got it all figured out is when life is just begun.

I am not my hair

Kinky, curly, and tangled

I am not my skin hairy, brown, and smooth

I am a person with feelings,

Who has an ear to hear them ridicule who I am to them

Who has the eyes to see the world’s light slowly dim, out.

Yes, I am a girl living in a world amongst many characters

Trying to find out which one I’ll choose to be

I am me, just a girl

Technically, that’s what you’d find in the dictionary

But there is not one thing I am meant to be

I am defined through different eyes you see.
