Just a Glance

My heart begins to dance

The sudden, steady race

All it took was a glance

He gives me a look of romance

We move in time, with grace

My heart begins to dance

His eyes and smile grow in brilliance

I am dressed in white and lace

All it took was a glance

An infant’s cry causes a disturbance

A button nose, a soft, newborn face

My heart begins to dance

I see my husband’s grey hair advance

Time has increased its pace

All it took was a glance

My son watches his bride’s elegance

He has finally found his place

My heart begins to dance

A house holding our remembrance

An old, beloved place

All it took was a glance

This quiet disappearance

Gone without embrace

My heart slows its dance

He is all I see in my last glance.
