Just Me

Same routine everyday,

wake up, walk the dog, straighten my hair, put makeup on, get dressed.

Each day I do the same thing.

It gets tiring sometimes,

always having to make sure I look pretty enough for the people around me.

Sometimes right before I go to sleep I look in the mirror and see me, just me.

No make up, hair unbrushed, and wearing sweats and slipper socks.

Underneath the makeup and fancy outifits,

I am a girl who loves to sing, read, and excercise.

When I go out in public without the makeup or dressy clothes,

People give me looks and ask, "Are you ok?" or "Oh my, you look tired!"

I just smile and say, "No, I am great!"

I came to realize that I am more than a stereotype,

The pretty school girl that gets good grades and is nice to everyone.

I am me, the girl who works hard for her grades, accepts people for who they are, and doesn't care what they think of her.

I am the girl who gives just because she can,

and helps whenever it is needed.

I am the girl who takes people in and gives them confidence to go after their goals.

I am the girl who helps a friend with his school work,

and provides food and money for his family who is financially unstable.

I am the girl who volunteers because of the happy feeling I get,

knowing I made someone's life better.

There is more to me than meets the eye,

I learned to show the face without the makeup and the glam,

Because I know that the people who love me will accept me no matter what,

and I am me, a beautiful me.
