Just the Nature and Me

Dear Puddle Jumper Trail, It’s winter now, and your trail is covered in snow. Making running impossible, because there’s nowhere to go. I miss those spring days of last year, When running on you was actually my fear. I was scared of running on your long trail I was scared my coaches would see me fail. After I got out there, and we had started to run I thought not of fear, and began to have fun I counted my steps while jogging your lane It was something to do to keep my mind off the pain. After awhile I noticed my progress, And running on your trail didn't cause as much stress. Your flowers, your streams, the cornfields, and trees The solitude and quiet and the light summer breeze Make running on you much more of a pleasure Your slim gravel trail is like a hidden treasure. Behind the trees, Where nobody sees The silence you hold The stories untold Running your trail, feeling free Running your trail, it’s just the nature and me.
