Just Poor

Location

A tedious gnawing at my tummy
Strays my eyes from the board.
The disparity is doubled.
How can I pay attention?
When I can’t pay for food?

She doesn’t know
That I am a good kid, I just can’t focus.
An other empty night,
Another empty morning.

She doesn’t know
That I can’t hear her voice,
When my stomach is louder than all.
I am hungry. I am poor.
But, she doesn’t know.

I tried to tell her,
But, she wouldn’t understand. she thinks I am bad,
But no, just hungry
Just poor.

But she doesn’t know.
