just put the scalpel down

I can't tell you how it hurts

to pry out these old veins

dried and empty all the same

echoing the sounds of your name

it's not that complicated

you're the one thing that I've hated

the angel with the darkened wings

all you ever were to me

was a leech beneath my skin

that I didn't notice till my options wore out thin

and my resolve split open

you hurt me in ways that you don't understand

and I just want you to know

that the grass is greener

where the clouds don't exist
