Just a Reminder

The marks on my skin symbolize more than you see

They call them “tiger stripes” but there just stress marks opps I meant stretch marks

Scars to me

Like the wrinkles on my hands and face

Or the scars all over my body

but

You know it all eventually fades

Or do they

No, they just scar

There a constant reminder that I struggle, I mean struggled with my weight

Struggled to maintain, to keep up

But I never do, I mean did

When I lost it all no one questioned how

Just compliments flooded and like always criticism too

I’ll never be “it” enough but now that

I have these stretch marks, these stripes, I guess they just remind me

That I didn’t get them from carrying a child

But I got them from struggling to.

Got them from stress, pain, weight gain and loss and holding in more than I can sustain

So my marks you see

They just symbolize

That I was too weak

And soon I’ll explode, my body will strip of me
