Just a Sad and Simple Something
Life's memories are fleeting;
each story I'm heeding,
but I'm still here bleeding
and have you a care?..
I did this for you,
but what else could I do;
such a sick thing, 'tis true,
yes, a sick thing we'll share...
As my life's story ends
and I'm rounding the bend,
I perceive a Godsend
and so offer a prayer...
It is humble and quick,
but I no more feel sick;
though I ne'er was your pick
no one said life was fair...
