Just Three Words

Three hollow words

Thrown around like a ball

They sound like they hold you up

But pray for you to fall

Repeated by your bestfriend,

Your baby,

Your lover

Used by them to hide behind and cover

Three words

Empty as a dusty cup

They don’t love you when you’re down

But when you’re up

Used when they can’t fix the pain they put you through

The most dangerous phrase

“I Love You”
