Just Like the Tides

For someone who claims to be an introvert I tend to get out a lot

something just drives me to seek other people

it takes me back to something I was once taught

the hierarchy of needs

humans need shelter and food and water and what not

but we also need companionship

what would we be without the presence of others.

I've been in many relationships, platonic and romantic

but what I find I need most is equity.

a good relationship is like the tide

it pushes you away and pulls you back in

and yet for all its antics you come back to immerse yourself in its depths

a good relationship is something that no matter what happens you want, maybe even need, to come back to

but most of all, a good relationship is what you put into it, and what it returns.
