Just Yesterday

It feels like just yesterday I was hiding behind my mom

Afraid to take life head on

Crying at the sight of school

Tying my hair in knots, hoping it would take all morning for my mom to take them out

It never worked

I was terrible at math and english

“They should be banned” I would wish

Four o’clock, five o’clock, six o’clock

Hours of what felt like endless homework

High school,

Deep breaths before opening that door

No more knots

Math, numbers, letters, and formulas engraved in my mind

English, essays becoming easier and easier

Four o’clock

Done

Ready to take tomorrow head on
