Justification


She’s a beautiful girl-

beautifully broken that is.

And each breath she draws

is ragged and hitched

like her lungs have been cut.

And her throat chokes itself

his words constricting,

and unshed tears burn her eyes

like someone is forcing them open-

Look! Look at this Hell you live!

But everything is blurry,

she’s ebbing away.

She doesn’t mind though.

So tilt your head back,

take one more drag,

let the smoke escape your lips

and drape the world.

Yes, that looks nice.

Quite beautiful, in fact.
