Kathy and Joe

Kathy and Joe

Kathy and Joe

my parents are in love

with our leaking roof

with each other, with the moon

my parents are in love

with our pine-straw driveway

with the world, with the way I see it

my parents are in love

with the holes in the tapestry

with their thread and needles, with what might be

my parents are in love

with a God they know is listening

with the grace, with the love he gives in every passing year

and my parents are in love

and I thank the earth and the sky and the God I seek

for that

and for as long as it remains true

I will find solace in it.
