Keep Going So I Go Farther

Keep Going So I Go Farther

The sun gleams over harsh clothes,

Heavy boots, feet sore of weariness.

He pushes and pulls laboriously

Drops and carries painfully,

Going place to place to do the same

Although he thinks of stopping he must

Continue, to ensure the roof above me.

Father, keep going so I go farther.

The mop and sponge packed in the trunk

Prepared to scrub wealthy floors.

The house is arranged impeccably,

Making certain it is beautiful.

At our house, it’s the same

But more kids to feed, more work to do.

Although she thinks of stopping she must

Continue, to ensure the food I eat.

Mother, keep going so I go farther.

So much time spent

So much money wasted

So much love given

All for nothing? No.

Work till the time has come,

One day it all ends for the two of you.

Keep going so I go farther.
