Keep Looking Straight

CC BY-ND
I can see you watching me from the corner of my eye Yet I continue to look straight Though it's hard not to look right back, I manage Cause I know that look you're giving me But these eyes don't belong to me anymore So, I can't get caught up in them Once I look over i know that I won't be able to look away So go ahead and think that I'm being distant Or that I'm not interested in you anymore But I'm really just doing this to protect myself I have to keep looking straight Avoid those eyes which are screaming my name Calling out for me to just turn my head Give in one last time Give into the false hope you feed to me One small look won't hurt though right Just for a second and then I'll look away They won't be screaming my name anymore I'll put them to rest So I turn Slowly and carefully One second passes by, but I'm still here Gazing into your eyes For that one second, I forget Forget the words you told me Forget the pain you caused me Forget about all the promises about staying and working on us For some reason that second has lasted longer than I thought But I can't look away I've finally found peace The home I once make in presence The past and present collide into one Collapsing time Once again, you've pulled me in
