Keeper

I am the wide eyed doe, standing in the road

You are the keeper of eyes

Keeper of eyes that meet with mine

For a split second, seconds split

You don’t see the life, you only see the flash

I am the wide eyed doe, standing in the road

When it’s all over

You will look under your car and see a pair of clouding over eyes

Keeper of eyes that meet with mine

But the gravel, the dust, the fear will wash away

And even my dust will one day wash away

I am the wide eyed doe, standing in the road

You, the final keeper

Keeper of eyes that meet with mine

And one day when your eyes are clouding over

You will think of me, and I of you

I am the wide eyed doe, standing in the road

You, keeper of eyes that meet with mine
