Keeper of the Stars
I'll send a prayer up to the stars
And leave the rest to their keeper,
And perhaps he'll teach me to dance
Among their shining voices
After he takes my heart
And teaches it to sing.
But first I must make a clean slate
The stars must find their way through me
To burn out my impurities.
And I must give up all
So that he has the room
To fill me with their light.
After that night, I'll look up
And see my reflection, bright with hope
And a thousand settling dreams
Will come to rest in my soul
And banish the gray winds
That howl in my nighttime.
