Keeping to Myself
Why is it that the one person you try so hard to care about
Can't seem to get the message through their head?
Are they blinded by emotion?
Does you even matter to them?
You try so hard, day in and day out, yet you get nothing.
Not a 'thank you' or an 'I appreciate that',
Why not keep to yourself?
So you get angry,
So you get upset,
So you feel hurt.
Why keep going back then?
It would save you so much heart break,
To just not care.
Why not keep to yourself?
Caring is dangerous,
It leaves you vulnerable and open to hurtful things,
Because you just care too much.
Why not keep to yourself?
I have learned not to care,
Because no matter how hard you try,
You can't force people to change.
That is why I am keeping to myself.
