Kennilworth

There are no great hills in Kenilworth

where grassy girls give fruitful birth

born from men of stately girth

I have been to Kenilworth

I have been to far worse

and back again upon a shore

where the ocean bleeds forevermore

There are no circles that lead to straight

though that boulevard retains

a sense of small town slipping away

I will return to Kenilworth one day

One day soon to see the shine

upon some faces sweet in fine

or go with Daniel to the store

get our haircut by the Ukee girl

Stay up with Chris and share a shot

of life, of truth, of what we have

or haven't got.

Yes, I will return to Kenilworth

though this side of the bridge

must always come first

for souls that feed upon the sea

know where most of their time must be.

Yes, Kenilworth it has its charm

tucked between Jersey's raging storm

but, more than that I have friends there

and friends are good friends anywhere.
