Key to a Carousel
- Captivating to both eyes and souls-
- she holds us captive in dreams and memories.
- With her we can be knights or kids forever.
- Accustomed to her endless journey-
- we lose our sense of beginning and end.
- In her lies a world of whimsical contrasts.
- Round it goes like earth turning with us inside
- With flickering lights, and inviting music
- she lures us to get on board and take a look inside.
- Obscure yet overt she lets us be jousting knights
- who choose to fall into the past only to wake up
- in our lost innocence where everything is perfect.
- Up we go with her as she throws our cares away
- and down we go with her as she pulls us in deeper.
- The illusion of going somewhere becomes a rewind.
- Staying on board is not a challenge
- when falling out isn’t the case.
- But staying on without getting trapped is.
- Emotion is her drug of choice.
- We live to relive those lost ones.
- Never realizing we have more to explore.
- Letting go is key to staying on board without-
- getting light headed or ending up lost and trapped
- where hearts are a rye waiting for catchers to come.

- Author Notes:
- Life is a carousel where the beginning marks its end and the end is determined by the beginning for most. The key isn't staying on board but rather not getting lost or sucked in with trivial matters and mishaps. We are all catchers in the rye in life's carousel chasing dreams of happiness, innocence, and love.
