A Kid

I am not full of kindness, compassion, or love

I'm not the girl my parents would be proud of

I am not the kid who spends her days flying

I am a kid whose watched her parents dying

I'm an infant locked in my fears

A kid whose let go of hands and swallowed tears

I am the kid who understands

The only one whose seen it firsthand
