As a Kid

As a kid I always wondered
what it was like to drive yonder
I never noticed that my parents cared
Of when the car needed repairs

I just wondered what it’s like
To be in charge of such a machine
It’s nothing like a motorbike
Even though both use gasoline

As a kid I always thought
Cars were scary but cool
I now realize that it means so much more
It’s one of the biggest changes from childhood to adulthood

Instead of watching people be in power
You are in power
And instead of being in your parents car
You’re in your car

A car is just waiting for you to put in the key
And drive away
So put in the key and flee

But come back soon
Maybe in June
Cause your car might need repairs
And your parents care
