The kid down the block

When I was young there was this kid down the block

Understand that I was young, barely knew how to talk

I was chalking up my driveway and saw him outside

I yelled, "Hey, do you want to play?" I cried.

He looked at me like a deer at a train

Wide-eyes, his shocked expression turns to a grin

That smile turns to a laugh and in turn to a run

Comes towards me like straight from a gun

I made a new friend that one fateful day

From that first run to now, we've hung out together

Me and the kid down the block, we're no work all play
