To The Kids

Ode to the kids with broken hearts,

Thinking everyday they’re not good enough.

The ones who try to move past it,

But it comes back to bite them in the butt.

Ode to the kids that are faking smiles.

Playing it off like it’s no big deal.

Although look in their eyes and you’ll know what’s real.

Ode to the kids who no one understands.

They sit there quiet

Never raising  their hands.

Surrounded by people

Alone in their thoughts.

Ode to the kids who go to music for escape.

Who shut people out

For hours and hours

Just to hear those words they need

To keep them sane in reality.

Ode to the kids in our generation

Waiting for someone to finally notice.
