Kids Being Kids

Wed, 04/10/2019 - 20:30 -- Louren4

Little girls run about; little boys yell out loud

This is what being a kid is about

Having ice cream for dinner and broccoli never

This is what being a kid is about

Staying up late and sleeping all day

This is what being a kid is about

Watching cartoons and running outside barefoot in the month of June

This is what being a kid is about

Warming oceans and plastic adrift

This is what being a kid is now

Bulletproof backpacks and bars on the windows

This is what being a kid is now

Staying inside because you are afraid of the bullets that fly

This is what being a kid is now

Limited healthcare and no clean breathing air

This is what being a kid is now

I long to go back to the days

Where the only worry was the sun fading away

Where kids could be kids

Instead of worrying about their life being taken away.
