"Kill Our Demons"
Mom cries in the bedroom praying for better
Eyes too tired to stop the tears
Falling on unforgiving red letters
Ink running through the paper like bloody footprints
Bla(n)ck runs past cop
Do you really need a hint?
Shit's getting redundant
Between politicking and red tape
Invisible shackles in the United Police States
Thought there was no escape
Loud to drown my pain
Loud music to drown screams
Another body slain
J.Cole touching my soul
Speakin' of a cold world
Rhythm And Poetry I relate to
Realizin' poetry ain't just for Angelou
Big stress on this little block
Guns cock and pills pop
Going to school don't make it stop
But when Cole rapped to people who live in adversity
I felt armed to fight the emotional poverty
Like I could really save my principality
What did Jermaine do for me?
Nothing short of everything
