Kin

Dear mother,

Oh mother dear,

life has been merciless.

for this mountain you climb,

you carve your own path,

with shadows that lurk at every turn

and faith that is fleeting.

Scars stain your skin,

blisters fester at your feet,

and bruises course the equator of your body.

Despite those tear stained eyes,

there’s not a glimpse of fear nor doubt.

So mother dear,

move forward,

for your little girl is coming,

to bear your burden with you,

leaving behind the pain of the past,

and heading into the distant future,

where you can rest,

for all your days to come.

So mother dear,

I sense your suffering,

and I feel your pain,

but just keep moving forward,

for your little girl is coming.

Oh mother dear.
