A King's War

There once was a time when my mind was calm,

It was a period of rest and joy.

But now my head is spread with cloth and balm,

To lessen the pain that once was destroyed.

Whether the king dies, or the queen retires,

To live in peace, royal blood must be spilled.

For one to win, the other must admire,

The strength of one and their power of build.

When all comes to an end, the beast unleashed,

Men will wonder, who was the true winner.

The victors shall come forth, in Final feast,

Thinking if their ways deem them a sinner.

As all who question, regarding their breath:

The choice is mine, whether its life or death.
