To kiss or not to kiss: that is the question:

Whether tis worth the risk to bear

The possible heartbreaks or knots in the stomach,

Or to prevent this inevitable disease of love

By avoiding it all. To pause, to wait -

No touch - and by waiting we can prevent

The shattering of feelings, and the broken dreams

That we imagine with this person. Tis a skill we all

Wish to acquire. To pause, to wait -

To wait - perhaps to wait too long: ay, there’s the rub,

Tor in waiting too long, one may lose the chance

Of falling for “the one”, he who really is.

When one chooses to avoid this intimacy,

Must give us pause. There’s the respect

That makes calamity of boldness

For who would bear the whips and scorns of deceitful love

Th’ abusive boyfriends’ wrong, the proud husbands contumely

The pangs of possible break ups, the true loves’ delay

The insolence of those envious  and the spurns

That patient girlfriends merit of th’ unworthy takes,

When she herself might her quietus make

With a sudden slap to his face? Who would fardels bear

To give and give, yet never receive

But that the dread of what much patience will bring

The concealed future, from whose heart

Shall never excite, puzzles the will,

And makes us rather bear the strong emotions we have,

Than fly no none - none at all?

Thus conscience does make risk-takers of us all,

And thus the native hue of retreat and carefulness

Is sicklied o’er with the pale cast of thought

And enterprises of great caution and prudence

With this regard their currents turn awry,

And lose the name of action.
