The Knife

For some reason I can't help but look forward
And I know this makes me seem a coward.
But the truth is undeniable to say the least
Like a lurking tiger, a roaming beast.

You see it too, I know for a fact you do,
That our inevitable end is here, our impending doom
Because soon you'll be gone, and I stuck here
And you will move on in this new life, that's clear.

I wish you the very best, and every happiness
I hope you succeed at every turn, trial, and test.
I forgive you for leaving without me, that's life
And I'll leave you my heart...might as well leave a knife.

The knife is to kill me, as quickly as you can
'Cause with or without you, there is no other man
Who makes me feel as loved, who can drive me insane
Who is the reason for each smile and each jolt of pain.

So I give you my heart, in the future and now
It is all I have left, it is all I can allow
One day soon you will move on in so many ways
But never once will I regret our love filled days.
