Knight from the Heavens

You fell from the inky skies, a streak of jade struck the earth

Chitin instead of skin, eyes soaked with disdain for my kind

Until one day they softened, ever so delicately.

Taught to love, you understood what makes our kind so weak

Absorbing our weakness, it infected you, spread to every pore, a cancer

Until it could be held no longer, it spilled into the soil, never to return

That day, you birthed a planet of viscera and fire

no more were the azure seas, nor viridian pastures

For the day you felt what it meant to be human,

You stripped the flesh from Earth
