Knight Of The Old Code

Knight of the old code

Enlisted long ago by the captain of his soul.

At a desperate moment the captain had come and saved his life.

At that moment the man was won to loyalty to the captain and HIS code.

He owed HIM his life and so gave HIM his life.

The captain knighted him on that day and said to him “Come and follow me”.

So, the knight has followed the captain and the old code.

He became a veteran of a thousand campaigns of love, service, sacrifice, and conflict.

Scared from head to toe due to the cost of the crusades on his mind, heart, soul, and body.

Days became years and years became decades.

The knight never imagined when they started that the road would be so long or so hard.

Mentors, friends, and family passed away and still the call came to “follow me” and there was yet another battle of love to be fought to bring healing and hope to the brokenhearted.    Another day and another battle.

The captain had now saved the knight’s life hundreds of times.  At the most desperate of moments and when the courage of the knight was gone, HIS captain came to deliver him out of desperate circumstances.  Some of which he had created because he strayed.   But the captain always was a faithful friend.

The knight is weary and old now.  But determined to be loyal to the captain and HIS code.    To finish well what has been started.

The knight prays to just keep on following one day at a time till final victory comes.

Knight of the old code.
