A Knight's Battle

When my back's against the wall
My thoughts collect and deepen.
My heart's a knight upon her horse
My weapons are at hand.

To defeat the enemy, my special task,
Shaken with fear, I am.
But I know that God is with me,
Freeing me from Satin's grasp.

Satan be this enemy;
His heart unclean and evil,
But I must try with all my might
To win this fearful battle.
He attacks me once; attacks me twice
Attacks me all the same.
But my Lord, my Shield and Sword
Will never fight in vain.

Satan withers and I am free.
My Lord has won the battle.
But there are many more to come
For this, my life, has become a war.

When my back's against the wall,
My thoughts collect and deepen.
My heart's a knight upon her horse
Ready for the fight.
