Knitting
Her scent was a swirl of vanilla and coconut
she spoke in a soft
never demeaning tone
My admiration for her never dwindled
as she taught me the art of
knit purl knit purl
Stitches twisted, knotted, and flew off the needles
my awkward and clumsy hands fumbled and unraveled
but I remained eager and pushed through the rows
Knitting grew to be my meditation
there is no worry about the end result
I just unwind my mind
as I unwind my yarn
knit purl knit purl
Soft threads against my fingertips
are more refreshing and cleansing than a screen.
I love my soothing and restorative practice
of knit purl knit purl
