Knocked down three times

According to string theory,

We are all vibrations in the universe

Particle and wave simultaneously.

Simple strings that emit their own wavelengths.

If this theory proves true,

Then the antimatter theory is too.

Because every action I make

Has been counteracted and erased.

What I'm trying to say is,

It feels like I'm fighting a war.

It's the universe against me

Facing each other in the ring.

My knuckles are white and shaking

From all this hopelessness I'm holding

While the universe just drifts around me

Leaving me confused and disappointed.

Because I would've thought that by now

My plans could've stopped changing

But the universe keeps catching me off guard

And now I've got to start from scratch.

I'm just a student trying to graduate from college.

But the universe must think I'm a worthy competition

As they give me a hard time to put my plan in motion

Because of all these damn curveballs they keep throwing.

The first hit was quite the stumper:

A two month strike from the student body

That I didn't know if I fully supported

Yet, along with my summer, the semester ended.

A one month break is all we got

Between the spring and fall semester

By the time we started taking classes

The calendar already reached September.

The administration had plans

To finish before the year ended.

But the universe wasn't about to lose a fight

So again I got knocked down flat.

The second and third blow

Hit while my guard was low:

Irma and María, two hurricane storms

A disastrous menace we hadn't seen in so long.

So now my home is destroyed

And the universities closed.

So here I am, resenting the universe

For things outside my control.
