The Knotted Rope
The Knotted Rope
I tie knots.
Knots in my stomach.
Knots around my heart.
They strangle me, threaten to tear me apart.
Physically I’m strong.
Mentally I’m broken.
Despair is my greatest enemy I’ve awoken.
Demons in my bed, mischief in my head.
Poison in my soul, my fear of letting go.
Bloody hands, broken bones.
Scrapped knees, cool eyes.
And my hearts racing, but I’m frozen as ice.
Count to three…
And I rise.
Slowly.
But as I reach around the walls, that start to enclose me.
Fear destroys the sliver of hope that grabs behold of me.
I’m then left unsettled.
Russian Roulette, people shooting me with metal.
But I thought I was bulletproof?
I guess I had lied, and thought I’d told the truth.
