To Know I Am Needed

Ahh to run and play all day
With the sun on my face and boots on my feet
The smell of the barn all around
How great it would be
To wake up and know I am needed.

They need me to live
To eat, to grow, to play
They need me.

I wake up and smell the fresh country air
The smell of freshly cut hay
See the luscious green pastures waiting
Waiting for me to bring their friends to play
So peaceful in the morn.

Time to ration out the grain
Fill up the water buckets
Many are happy to see me
Start dancing in their stalls
How great a feeling to know
They need me.

Grab a handful of halters
Take the horses out to their luscious pastures
Watch them galloping and skipping about
Just enjoying themselves.

Now it's back to the barn
Time to clean
Grab a fork and pick a stall
Down the aisles I go
Should finish by noon.

Choose a few horses
Work them for hours
Take an evening ride
Bring the rest inside
Give them their food and water again.

Waltz inside and wash up
Finally time for dinner
Day is done
Tomorrow I'll start all over again
For they still need me.
