Knowing Your Enemy

I have more love for you now than before

You have always been as far from my heart

As though we were both strangers in a war

But then it was like cupid shot a dart,

One that flew straight through my chest, straight to you

And drew my eyes towards yours, shining and bright

I gazed upon you, your skin fresh as dew

It was like you had a halo of night

A dark cloud shielding the good of your soul

I knew that it had to be destiny

That without you I could never be whole

And in my heart and the rest of me

A voice said I’d found my greatest treasure

A mortal enemy for all and ever
