Knowing You're There
It's waking up and knowing you're there.
Not because you have to be, or because it's what I need.
It's your devotion to sharing with me,
The small things in your day, and the big.
Sharing the joys of a remarkable day, and the burdens of a lousy one.
It's the affectionate feeling you give me,
Though you're incognizant.
The way you make me smile,
With a simple chat.
It's the fun that we have,
In the simplest ways.
How you don't hold expectations,
That are just unfair.
It's the understanding that you have for me,
When things are upside down.
How you let me make mistakes,
And help me fix them.
It's knowing I can make it through hard times,
Knowing that you're there.
