Knowledge
"why?" they ask
why why why
the most common question
a request for explanation
the need to know
"why?" they ask
why why why
the meaning
the understanding
the need to know
"why?" they ask
why why why
they surround themselves in an enclosed fort
made of blankets and pillows and questions
the need to know, to explain the world
"why?" they ask
why why why
but they know
they already know
the need to explain the world around them
"why?" they ask
why why why
do you want us to live
without understanding why?
why are we alive?
why are you choosing that?
why is this what you want?
why are the why's you ask the attack, a plea
when the why's I ask are only a defense, a plea?
the knowledge is all we seek,
without the knowledge, we are not alive
to defend, to expect, to be free,
is all we seek the knowledge?
if i was stranded on a desert island,
all i would ask was why
why would be all i need to know,
the why's of everything
why i was put there
why can't i get back
why i feel trapped
because we're never really trapped
not until we give up
and if we gave up
aren't we just saying "i don't know why"?
ask me what i can't survive without?
"why?" they say
why why why
would anyone
be able
to survive
without knowledge?
