Knowledge is Power
His friends didn't know,
That the prom king,
Didn't want a queen.
That Julie with the mascara,
Was just cover-up.
And his little brother,
Didn't know,
That football players,
Could love cheerleaders,
Who weren't in skirts.
His father didn't know,
When the razor blades,
Started growing legs and walking away,
That they had tap shoes.
That they were dancing,
On the insides of his wrists.
His mother didn't know,
Those scarves she'd tucked away,
On the top shelf,
The ones he wore on his first winter day,
Would be the same scarves,
He wore on his last.
The only thing he EVER knew,
Was the inside of a closet.
