Known
Anxiety: gripping, ripping, tripping me
Echoes of tension make it hard to just be.
Anticipatory responses to unknown threats are paralyzing
Rigid and tiptoeing without even realizing.
Taking pride in kindness and optimism
Yet at times in the shadows light scatters through a dark prism.
Unable to recognize my reflection in those moments
Wishing those parts of myself would go dormant.
Push, push, push down the emotions
Until they emerge uncontrollable
Volatile as the ocean.
But then, him. Who truly knows my soul
And helped me to realize I am already whole.
He reminds me to be present, all-loving and kind
As I show compassion to the aches of others
I should also show mercy to mine.
A newfound force of mindfulness and calm
Nothing to worry about if nothing is wrong.
Recognition of each feeling in its true weight
Allows for genuineness to predominate
The more ease with myself the more I know
An uplifting atmosphere that has encouraged me to grow.
