La Lune
Hush, shush
Open your eyes
The sun is setting
And it is time for us to rise
Pale moonlight upon a slender wrist
The call of something more
A hymn whispered softly in your ear
Lyrics lost as lore
Fear not the silken night
As it beckons you near
The swirling shadows are your friend
There is nothing to be afraid of here
Her lips pull upwards in a smile
Our majesty La Lune
Midnight drawing ever closer
Gently rises the moon
I dedicate these words
Soft spoken in the dark
To the moon that rises every night
And to those who find peace in the stars
To girls immortal and free
To all that is wild and raw
To all left behind and forgotten
To those crushed by law
La Lune, the eternal huntress
And mother of the shadows
A kind word and soft caress
The evening’s black rose
Fear not the velvet wrappings
Dark as black can be
Instead listen to the song
Sung gently through the trees
Listen to the secrets
Spoken on the wind
And rituals performed in shadow
Hark at the power within
Watch how as the lights go out
All worth knowing is revealed
And as the world shuts away
The darkness does not yield
To those who shirk the given path
She opens up her arms
La Lune our protector
No cause now for alarm
Dance beneath the twinkling stars
And revel in the moon
Swim in lakes and streams painted black
And you will be home soon
Girls with skin like ivory
Awash in pale strings of pearls
Graceful like drifting feathers
Sending up sparks with their twirls
Do you hear the whisper
In the dark and all alone?
Can you hear the maiden calling
For you to return home?
Free yourself of form
Girls immortal and wild
Free and feral in the night
A hint of teeth in every smile
The wolves too sing to her
And you feel her in your blood
Red stains upon the earth
Mixing with the mud
Fear not the comfort of her gaze
And let your eyes go wide
For the cruel sun has set
And it is our turn to rise
Hush, shush
The hour has come
Feel the rhythms in your bones
And let yourself succumb
