Labyrinth

I get lost in a world of mazes,

Trying to find my way

But the labyrinth expands

And challenges me

With all new standards to be

And improvements to make

And stereotypes to live up to.

With all possible willpower

And a courageous conscience

I try to fight my way out of these twisting walls

Becoming tangled with my thoughts and my destination

And I get swallowed among the forgotten and abandoned dreams of yesterday.

Before I can reveal myself, I must get past each boundary.

An obstacle is just an opportunity in disguise

But they disguise themselves too well,

For I can only see weaknesses in myself for not being able to overcome them.

I want to pull back the curtain

And show the world what I can do

But how can I do that if the labyrinth of entirety

Insists on covering me.

Excluding me

From every little thing that would give me a chance.

So ask me again why

I'm simply a Slam behind the curtain.
