Lack of inspiration

Proverbs 1:23 

²³ If only you will respond to my rebuke,
then I will pour out my thoughts to you
and I will make my words known to you.

The leader of the pack running in chosen circles

I stand on the sideline encouraging the lot

Who are the most foolish the runner or spectator?

One paid a price and the other’s money in a slot

Maybe running will keep you healthy

and observing becomes just a pastime

The first if famous may make him wealthy

and the second just a pastime for feeling fine

Where is inspiration when you force a thought?

Where is freedom of expression when the mind is on a grill?

Who will light the fire when no fuel is bought?

Who will waste his time because he can’t be still?

Ink keeps on flowing ... filling some empty paper

An empty heart and mind supplying its dark traces

Ideas and comprehension now appear like a vapor

with no time to linger in the boundless empty spaces

There is a time to write and a time to pause

How to recognize the difference between the two?

Nowhere is proclaimed that inspiration has a clause

but surely when it’s missing there is little left to do

At times life is like a windmill without a breeze

Standing still and forgotten in a busy world

Only to be noticed by the idle in a squeeze

and procrastination’s escape from the working curve
