Lacking Holiday Spirit

I see lights upon the roofs of houses And I smell peppermint in the air, I hear a jingle of a bell everyday But my heart lacks joy this year, My eyes tear up in sadness And I grow anxious as our food supplies dwindle away, I see arrogant people with greed in their eyes Using guilt to gain what they want, I see a worker's eyes filled with misery as they hear customers' complaints with red faces I hear my mother crying behind her door, And I feel myself going numb I fear for this time of year, For our crisis will build up With stone cold never ending days.
