Lady
When I'm looked at and
My breasts are considered to matter and
The length of my hair seems to be a factor and
What was called out at birth and of course
What is in my mind
Sex and Gender equaling
what can be said in polite conversation and
what is called across the street to me and
some but "define" my honor
and why the hell should what I have to buy to cover and hold myself under my damn clothes matter!
For me, I was born and I am a woman
that means it must be okay to yell
"ayye big tits let make rock your world" and "yo lil mama imma turn you inside out"
from the side of the street, it must be okay because it sure does happen a lot
and "ayye girl" and "let me holla" and "yo bitch you heard me turn your ass around"
why should I fear for myself becuase I am a women?
why should those assigned to the role, born into and out of have to be terrified?
why should my trans* sisters be more likely to be murdered?
why the hell is cat calling in question?
I'll give you the answer to the questions above with some details
do we like to be treated as products: no we are people
do we like to be yelled for not answering if we care scared: no becuase we are like you
do I need to show you my teeth becuase you opened your big mouth: no becuase you don't deserve it
will the answer to anyof these questions be yes: HELL NO you better start thnking
I have spent my whole life scared of the men on the street becuase ive seen what they can do and heard what happened when you don't turn around but my mama she told me to be strong and remember that no one can tell you what you are or what to do but you
so boys stop talking
act like your mama raised you with some sense
or so help me I will find her and talk to her my damn self
I am a LADY
you better learn what that is
