This Lady I Know
She's smart and sweet,
She's my inspiration,
Taught me how to be a lady,
Make decisions with no hesitation.
She's been through a lot,
Became a mother at seventeen,
Was always there,
Never let something come in between.
I could not live without this lady,
I fear the day she says goodbye,
I don't think I could live,
I would break down and cry.
She taught me everything I know,
She is my shield like a bear and fur,
She taught me how to live happy,
But not happy without her.
I could go without my phone,
I could leave behind my car,
I could never eat food,
But her absence will leave a scar.
I would jump off a building
Just so she lives an extra day,
I know God has a plan,
But can he extend her stay?
This woman is my mother,
Something no one can replace,
There's little room in my heart,
Because she takes up the most space.
When I was hurt, and alone,
And made fun of for my skin,
She was the one who understood,
She was the one who would defend.
She never gave up,
She is my mother, you see.
And I used her for this poem
Because she will forever be important to me.
