Lament Lent

That song that sang a bird High in the tree tops of a lonely city. A loss a gain hand in hand Human stands alone and yet From its hips is born crying another From the very fabric -ribs We are created -an umbilical chain Connecting us in an unnamable manner We are of this earth Which heals us and hurts us Which gives us and takes from us The dark and the light -respectively Law reigns- the sun heats and steals the moisture Only for the sky to yield it again Richness is lent You can take every shred Every dime From the talented or otherwise talkative man And he has left- skin flesh and bones And a place where he was once connected To the ever growing chain of humanity
